Indian skipper Virat Kohli maintains a remarkable success percentage as a captain. When it comes to his track record in test matches as a captain, he ensured India reached winning shores in 33 matches out of 55. India lost 10 matches while 10 more matches were drawn. Altogether, Virat's success percentage stands at 60%.

Kohli has even better success track record in one day cricket. India swept other teams in 44 matches out of 60. Thus, Kohli's success percentage, here, lies at 74%. Statistics speak more about Kohli than any other person. Above all, Kohli stands the world's best batsman in the contemporary world cricket.

MS Dhoni is not as aggressive as Kohli. However, his peace and tranquility in guiding and administering his team made him emerge world's top class captain. World Cup 2011's victory became a feather in Dhoni's cap.

Both Kohli and Dhoni have their strengths and weaknesses. Their impeccable contributions as captains for Indian cricket stand at mammoth levels.

Yet, there is another outstanding cricketer, who is considered the best of all captains of Indian cricket. And he is none other than Sourav Ganguly. What's his eminence as a captain? Does he have a great track record like Kohli? No way! Does he balance emotions like Dhoni? Sorry, no chance!

If so, how could Sourav be the best of all captains? There's a valid reason which echoes him the best on repeat mode. Until Ganguly assumed responsibilities as a captain, Indian cricket appeared submissive and passive when battling against tough rivals like Australia and South Africa. But then, Ganguly's Tsunami like entry led the face of Indian cricket changed. Under Sourav's regime, India emanated an aggressive team and started winning even abroad. Yuvraj, Sehwag, Harbhajan and Kumble turned great cricketers with the precious stimulation and invigoration offered by Ganguly.

Dhoni and Kohli might have registered better numbers than Ganguly in terms of winning statistics. But then, they are no way on par with the status of Ganguly who ensured the change in attitude of Indian cricket team which turned in a blessing in disguise for subsequent generations.
