Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna is known for his powerful mass entertainers. None can imagine other actors in his power-packed roles. However, viewers will be surprised to know that a comedian replaced Balakrishna in a film.

Muthyala Subbaiah's Moodu Mulla Bandham which released in the 80s raised the eyebrows of many. The film is about hero tying a knot to heroine elder to him while they were playing in their childhood and later forgets all was about to marry another heroine.

The makers first planned to cast Balakrishna who was just 17 years then and did Annadammula Anubandham and Vanisri as the heroine. But the producers expressed their inability to rope such top stars as they were new in the industry. So they decided to make the film with established and newcomers.

They roped in Madhavi for the heroine and Sarath Babu for the role of a doctor who loves her. Later they cast in Rajendra Prasad who is known for his hilarious roles for the role which was earlier planned for Balakrishna. They however compromised on second heroine Vijaya Kala due to obligations.

Censor Board members scolded the director for making such a film which shows an 8-year-old boy tying a knot to 18-year-old girl. They refused to give a certificate citing Sharada Act which prohibits child marriages.
