It’s proved numerous times that remaking classics is a risky and costly affair. The problem is people compare everything with the original. Even if filmmakers come up with some changes in the script and actors in the remake perform better, nothing pleases audience for whom the original is the best.

Of late, with availability of vast content of all language films in OTTT platforms, people are watching films with good reviews.

Star Producer Dil Raju took unwanted risk by remaking Tamil classic 96 in Telugu as Jaanu. Prem Kumar did fantastic job another time and Sharwanand and Samantha came up with wonderful performances. All the other technical team gave their best and music is lauded by one and all. Still, the film is failing to attract Telugu audience and is turning out as a commercial failure.

This failure is a tight slap on the face of Dil Raju who remade the film despite knowing the risk involved in it. Of course, it is also a lesson for others who wish to remake classics.
