This is an ignominious moment for all supporters of Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth. Rajinikanth's new film Petta was dubbed into Telugu as Peta. Now that the film is carrying little buzz among movie circles, the movie is now considered to be 'Banana in the Battle' (true translation of 'Aatalo Aratipandu').

Initially, noted producer C Kalyan wanted to acquire the film's rights. Since the movie's release has been locked to January 10 as a Sankranthi gift for audience, the producer backed out sensing the threat from straight Telugu films slated for Sankranthi release.

Later, the movie's rights were owned by another producer Ashok Vallabhaneni for Rs.12 crores. This is the lowest ever price for a Rajini's film in the recent past. Even then, the amount appears to be hefty given the least hype of the film.

Peta's theatrical trailer was released by film's team recently. The response is poor with a little number of views have been recorded. Considering all these odds, Peta, though, is set for Sankranthi release, seems not a competition for any Sankranthi film.

The film was directed by Karthik Subbaraj under Sun Pictures. Simran and Trisha are the heroines.
