Mohammad Bin Tughlaq, the founder of the Tughlaq dynasty, was thought of transferring the capital from Delhi to Devagiri (now Daulatabad) in the year 1327 AD. A large number of people were forced to migrate from Delhi to Devagiri all the way for 1500 km. The Sultan arranged all the comforts of the people during their journey. Shady trees were planted. Food and water supply were provided and free residences in Daulatabad were also provided. However, the idea of changing the capital was failed and the people again were shifted to Delhi in 1335 AD.

And now, the AP Government has taken it prestigious constructing the capital with international standards. They have also announced the sops to the employees such as local status, enhancement of HRA, two holidays per a week etc. Even then, NGOs seem to be hesitating to migrate to Amaravati as no basic facilities and amenities exist in Amaravati at the moment.

Whatever it is, AP Government and the people are proud to be part of the building up of the new capital for AP. All in all, Amaravati appears to become a Delhi but not Daulatabad in the historic point of view.
