The quantum of sentence was delivered, finally, by the Bangalore court. The court sentenced 4 years imprisonment and one hundred crores fine to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in disproportionate assets case. She is likely to be sent to Agraharam jail of Bangalore city. Under new laws on the probity of elected officials, Jayalalithaa will have to step down from her position. It is yet to be cleared who could replace her. She also cannot contest elections for the next four years or unless a higher court overturns the special court's verdict.

This afternoon, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been found guilty in an 18-year-old disproportionate assets case by a Special Court in Bangalore. She has been reportedly been convicted under Prevention of Corruption Act Section 13 (1) (E), and will have to resign immediately.
