Senior Congress leader Ambatti Rambabu on Wednesday created a flutter by making another controversial statement declaring that the Congress Party is in for a defeat in the just-concluded byelections in Telangana region.

Describing YS Jaganmohan Reddy as a popular youth leader after YSRajasekhar Reddy, who has a massive crowd following, Rambabu said no leader in the party has the power to take the Congress to victory at the hustings.

''Neither the Chief Minister nor the party president has the right leadership or charisma to lead the state on path of development,'' Ambatti asserted.

He told newsmen in Guntur on Wednesday that the Kadapa MP was growing in stature despite the hate-campaign launched by a few politicians. His popularity is an indication that the people want to see him as the Chief Minister.

A majority of MLAs in the state had also undertaken a signature campaign in favour of such demand, Rambabu said.

Presently, Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Redddy is touring round the East Godavari district as part of his Odarpu Yatra. On the 21st day of his Yatra, Jagan began his roadshow from the Municipal office at Ramachandrapur after unveiling a statue of his late father YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

Jagan's Yatra in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh continues to draw huge crowds from the rural, urban as well as from the younger generations. The streets and arterial roads in the town was crowded with people flocking to see Jagan who addressed a meeting in front of the Municipal office on Wednesday.

Earlier, Minister Subash Chandra Bose addressed the gathering. Six Congress MLAs have also joined his yatra recently.
