Justice Sri Krishna who is heading the Sri Krishna Committee and continuing discussions on the Telangana issue with various parties, made an interesting observation to some of his close confidantes here on Friday.

After gathering information from Ravinder Kaur and Abu Saleh Sharif who toured the  Mahabubnagar and the Kurnool districts recently, Justice Srikrishna observed that people of both the regions raised the Hyderabad issue frequently.

The people of Telangana were of the view that if separate Telangana was carved out of the State, then their children would grab most of the coveted jobs in the private and IT companies based in Hyderabad.

However, Ravinder Kaur  countered them saying the corporate companies may recruit  their employees from any region and no one can force them to draft people only from Telangana. Further, the people of Telangana  are under the illusion that once Telangana is formed, they can drive the Andhra people away from Hyderabad and thereby ensure most of the jobs for their children.

The panel members noted, the people of Kurnool complained to them that if Telangana is bifurcated, they would have no resources left for development. After investing so much money on  Hyderabad they cannot afford to leave Hyderabad.

Srikrishna noted that Telangana agitation and the integrated State agitation was only for the retention of Hyderabad. Finally, before concluding the  day’s proceedings, Srikrishna  said, ``I will visit  the interior parts  of the State personally to gather  more information before  submitting the report.’’Later, Srikrishna left for Mumbai in the evening.

Meanwhile, Abu Saleh Shariff, an economist and a member of the Srikrishna panel on Friday visited the Secretariat and gathered the much-needed information on the  allocation of funds with reference to the resources of the State to various regions since 1956. Later Abu Saleh left for Delhi.
