Telugu Desam leader and former mayor of Hyderabad Teegala Krishna Reddy on Friday criticized the State government for wasting nearly Rs one crore in the name of Mayors’ conference.

Talking to reporters, he said the money collected in the form of taxes through people should be utilized for development and welfare works of Hyderabad people.

According to sources, Chief Minister K Rosaiah is inaugurating a two-day conference of All India Council of Mayors at the Hotel Novotel, Gachibowli on April 24 and April 25.

Nearly 34 Mayors from all over the country and 14 from the state would participate in the conference to discuss solid waste management, pollution, urban development, parking problems and other allied issues.

Krishna Reddy said he was against spending people’s money for conferences and sessions.Who gave the power to GHMC to spend the tax payers’ money for conferences and meetings? he questioned.He suggested the government to utilize the money for providing basic amenities and infrastructure facilities for Hyderabad people.
