Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu has disapproved the Supreme Court contention that live-in relationship between consenting adults could not be treated an offence.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday over the apex court observations, Naidu said premarital sex is an offence and is unacceptable to the Indian society. He took exception to the Supreme Court ‘comment’ on pre-marital sex and live-in relationship as against Indian tradition and ethics.

Pre-marital sex would corrupt the minds of youth and lead to erosion of moral values, he said.

The apex court made the observation while dealing with a special leave petition filed by actress Khusboo seeking to quash criminal cases filed against her in Tamil Nadu for endorsing pre-marital-sex.
