Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Monday directed the officials to give top priority to Jalayagnam works.

Convening a review meeting with the Ministers and officials concerned on the pending irrigation project works taken up under the Jalayagnam Scheme at the Secretariat, he directed the officials to complete the projects with low investment on priority basis.

He asked the officials to set a target of completing 39 projects under the Jalayagnam this year with an expenditure of Rs 6,900 crore.  

Rosaiah  instructed the officials to complete all the projects as per schedule and resolve any problems pertaining to technical and financial issues immediately. Directing the officials to set up a special clearance cell to sort out land disputes and compensation issues speedily, the CM urged  them to   complete  the projects on tim.

Appealing to the offcilas  to place  the  facts  before  the publc, the CM aske  the officials to rebut the misinformation campaign launched by the Opposition parties over the Jalayagnam project works.

The  CM also asked the officials to submit a monthly report on the progress of works and assured them  that the flow of funds will not be a problem.

Of the 86 irrigation projects taken up under Jalayagnam during the last five years, 12 projects have been completed and 74 projects are still taking  shape.

Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmayya and Minister for Minor Irrigation V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy were present in the meeting.
