Government Whip P Sailajanath on Thursday submitted urged Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy to allow people afflicted with HIV to marry.

Sailajanath said restrictions on the marriage of HIV-affected persons amounts to denial of their conjugal rights. He wanted the Government to provide supplementary nutrition to protect them from secondary infections.

He said bachelors, who have contracted HIV, should be allowed to marry and said this would also lead to the spread of the dreaded disease.

The Government Whip also thanked Chief Minister K Rosaiah for announcing a pension of Rs 200 each for HIV/AIDS patients.
