Jayendra Saraswathi on 'religious conversions'

Kanchi Kamakotipeetaadhipathi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi has once again appeared in the news expressing his worries about growing regional feelings between the people of same region in Andhra Pradesh. ‘We have divided the country into states, districts, mandals, taluks only for the administration convenience but not to divide the people based on this division. As we tend to become divided on various feelings, our strength wanes thus giving a chance for our opposition to dominate us.

We read various news about funding of huge amounts from foreign countries to force the people towards religious conversions in India, which is growing day by day and is a cause of concern for the society resulting in the growth of communal hatred between the sections of people,’ said Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi referencing the point to Telangana.

Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi was of the strong notion that people in either sides of Andhra Pradesh are willing to stay together and the present political chaos in the state is created for political benefits of few leaders.

After 2004, this is again for the first time that Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi made some regional and communal comments. Let us hope that these comments go without much recognition of political parties.
