The Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has renewed its annual tirade against the celebration of Valentine’s Day, wracking preparations for it in the twin cities of  Secunderabad and Hyderabad.

In a  bid to protect the Indian culture, the Bajrang Dal activists burnt greeting cards and effigies symbolizing Valentine’s Day celebrations and Western culture at Paradise Centre in Secunderabad. They warned residents of severe consequences if they do not stay away from the festival of love. Later, they staged a rasta-roko at Paradise Circle renting the air with slogans  of Vande Mataram.

The activists also advised adults against sending their children out on Feb 14. Opposing any public display of love, they warned young lovers to keep off public places.

“We want to spread the message that love and affection can be displayed on any day. Why only on Valentine’s Day (Feb 14),” said a Bajrang Dal activist.

Earlier, the activists went on rampaging greeting cards shops, pubs and restaurants against the celebration of Valentine's Day.

As if this was not adequate, the Bajrang Dal brigade planned to constitute a task force in the city to hold a check on the young lovers visiting pubs and other places.
