New Delhi, Jan 27: Telangana MLAs have finally knocked the doors of the apex court over the resignation pertaining to the Telangana bifurcation issue. The Supreme Court's acceptance of the petition is an indication that it perceives a constitutional crisis in Andhra Pradesh following the resignations of 139 MLAs cutting across party-lines.After repeated representations to the Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy to accept their resignations over the separate statehood issue,

MLAs from the region on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court seeking a direction that their resignations be deemed accepted.A petition, filed by MLA M Narayana Reddy was moved before Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan who will hear the matter on Feb 1. The petition names 139 MLAs from all parties who had submitted their resignations to the Speaker in December last year, as petitioners in the matter.
