Hyderabad, Jan 27: The State Government suspended five Excise officials and ordered a probe into the Sunday's hooch tragedy in Amalapuram mandal in East Godavari district.The suspended officials include Enforcement Assistant Commissioner, Amalapuram Excise Superintendent, two circle inspectors and one sub-inspector.The illicit liquor claimed 15 lives and 170 people are being treated in the hospitals in the district.

Minister for Panchayati Raj Botsa Satyanarayana told newsmen on Wednesday that the government would release an aid of Rs 5,000 for the family of the victims.He said the government will conduct a post-mortem on the victims. The police have registered a case under the Preventive Detention Act against the prime accused in the case Pichcheti Ramakrishnaiah. The police also arrested four persons in this connection.
