Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu re-launched the  "DD Saptagiri" channel here on Saturday.

The "Doordarshan Saptagiri", which earlier represented united Andhra Pradesh, has been re-launched as the official channel of residuary State at a function held at the All India Radio building, which ha been renamed after Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of Indian national flag. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu hoped that the DD Saptagiri would play a crucial role in dissemination of information and involve people in building the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister exhorted people to contribute for the construction of new capital. He said besides having a world-class capital, Andhra Pradesh would transform Vijayawada, Guntur, Mangalagiri and Tenali into mega cities. He said Andhra Pradesh was rich in natural resources and they would be effectively used to build the State from scratch.

Addressing the gather, Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu also hoped that DD Saptagiri would play a major role in taking the government's schemes to the people. He said Doordarshan was still the largest broadcaster in the country with 1,417 transmitters and 32 channels.

Ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Devineni Uma Maheshwar Rao and Kamineni Srinivas and other legislators and officials also participated in the event.
