BJP warns Centre against making spineless Telangana

BJP senior leader and former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Monday opposed any move by the Centre to delegate powers to Governor after the formation of Telangana.

Speaking to media persons here, Vidyasagar Rao said that the Telangana State and its government would be meaningless if the Governor exercises powers related to sharing of water and revenues and law and order. He said that the Telangana Government should have absolute administrative control on par with other 28 States in the country. He said that the meaning of separate Telangana would be lost if the Centre delegates all powers to the Governor.

Vidyasagar Rao accused the Congress-led UPA Government of attempting to steal the real power from the proposed Telangana State. He said that Telangana State was demanded and achieved to undo the injustices done to the region in the last several decades. However, this could not be done with a spineless government in the new State. He said that the Telangana, with 10 districts and Hyderabad as its capital, should total powers.

The BJP leader also alleged that the Congress was trying to confuse the people in the name of Rayala-Telangana by using the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
