The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Tuesday demanded firm steps by the government to curb the ‘sky-rocketing’ prices of essential commodities or quit, owning up its inability to provide succour to the common man.The TDP has organised a series of protests in 150 divisions of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation under the leadership of party senior leader Yerram Naidu.

In a protest organised at Borabanda and Mothinagar, Yerram Naidu lashed out at government’s claim of clamping down on blackmarketers was only ‘tall talk’.He urged the state government to immediately wake from its deep slumber and take corrective steps.

The TDP feels it is high time for serious introspection and for initiating urgent correctives on a war footing. The TDP warns that if timely steps are not taken, agriculture in India will be doomed and the Congress led UPA government will be solely responsible for ruining the country’s agriculture economy.He said daily there were instances of police and officials colluding with such anti-social elements. Telugu Desam MLC P Yadagiri said the party would intensify the agitation.
