Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday appealed to the youth not to take extreme steps like suicide for the cause of Telangana.
Stating that he was deeply distressed and pained to know of the deaths of youngsters in support of Telangana, he said that the Central Government was seized of the Telangana issue and has been working to resolve the issue to the satisfaction of all the concerned. "It is a great tragedy for their parents, families, loved ones and for the society at large when youth who have a great future ahead and on whom rest high hopes end their life so suddenly and tragically," he said.
The Governor issued the appeal after a 20-member Telangana Political Joint Action Committee delegation led by Prof M Kodandaram called on him at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and submitted a memorandum on the issue of suicides by youth for the cause of Telangana.
The Governor also appealed to the leaders of the T-JAC to advise, guide and counsel the youth with love as well as affection not to resort to such extreme steps which leave behind a great tragedy and urged them to make "No Suicide" as their slogan and spread this message.
The T-JAC delegation included Mallepalli Laxmiah, G Devi Prasad, V Srinivas Goud and Rajender Reddy and others. Principal Secretary Dr N Ramesh Kumar was also present.
