The Ranga Reddy district court on Monday directed the LB Nagar police station to register a cheating case against Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

The directions were issued following a petition moved by Telangana lawyers stating that Shinde and Chidambaram have cheated the people of the region. The petitioner stated that while Chidambaram went back on his promise of initiating the process of formation of Telangana State on December 9, 2009, Shinde did not fulfill the promise of announcing Telangana decision within one month after holding an all-party meeting on December 28 last year. He said by not fulfilling the promise, both the leaders have cheated the people of Telangana region.
