Jagan moves Supreme Court seeking bail

After the rejection of bail in the State High Court, YSR Congress party president and Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy, the prime accused in the disproportionate assets case languishing in Chanchalguda Jail, on Monday moved a petition in the Supreme Court seeking bail.

In his petition, Jagan stated that he was fully cooperating with the Central Bureau of Investigation in the probe and therefore, should be granted bail. He also mentioned that he was the head of a recognised political party and had to utilize his franchise in the Presidential election as a responsible MP. He said that all the charges leveled by the CBI were 'politically motivated' and the agency has so far not provided substantial evidence to prove its charges.

Jagan also appealed to apex court to set aside the High Court orders in rejecting his bail. It may be mentioned that the High Court has quashed the bail petition of Jagan after hearing the arguments of noted criminal lawyer Ram Jethmalani.
