Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday claimed that the State Government and Congress party have played no role in the freezing of accounts of Jagati Publications Limited and Indira Television Limited owned by Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Talking to media persons in Visakhapatnam on his way to Payakaraopeta by-election campaign, Kiran Kumar Reddy said neither the government nor the ruling party was related to the entire issue. He said that the Central Bureau of Investigation has been probing the large scale investments in Jagathi Publications by individuals and companies. He said that the law would take its course and the guilty would be punished as per the law.

However, he said that the government would take all measures to protect the freedom of press and welfare of journalists. He said that the CBI probe would not affect the freedom of press of electronic and other media houses in the State. “The government will take all measures for the welfare of journalists' families,” he said.

The Chief Minister also expressed confidence that the Congress party would emerge victorious in the ensuing by-elections in the State. He said that the prospects of G Sumana in Payakaraopeta was bright and hoped that she would win from the constituency with huge majority.
