After a political 'sanyas' of nearly 15 months, former PCC president D Srinivas is back into active politics.
In a strategic move that could soften Telangana agitation, the Congress party nominated Srinivas as its candidate for the seat of Legislative Council which fell vacant after the resignation of former chief minister K Rosaiah after his elevation to the post of Tamil Nadu Governor.
The party tried to project D Srinivas as the party's face of Telangana region and all stalwarts including Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, MLA Chiranjeevi and over a dozen ministers and MLAs were present when he filed his nomination for the MLC elections. According to party sources, known for his negotiation skills, Srinivas was the obvious choice for the MLC seat.
Srinivas served as the PCC President for three consecutive terms and the party has won elections twice in 2004 and 2009 under his leadership. However, he was marginalised by former chief minister YSR Rajasekhara Reddy and was allocated a non-significant portfolio of Rural Development. However, he lost the assembly elections from Nizamabad Urban seat in 2009 and again lost the by-elections in July 2010 to BJP candidate Y Lakshmi Narayana.
Although Srinivas was considered the second most powerful Congress leader in the State, but after YSR's death, Rosaiah was made the Chief Minister as Srinivas was neither a member of the assembly nor the council. Further, in June this year, he was also stripped of the post of PCC President and was replaced with Botsa Satyanarayana.
The ongoing Telangana agitation might have led the Congress High Command to realise the importance of D Srinivas who successfully controlled the pro-Telangana parties during his tenure as PCC president. He is said to be having close proximity with Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao. It was D Srinivas who played a key role in giving TRS a political life in 2004 by convincing the party for a tie-up on 42 assembly and six Lok Sabha seats in the region.
The ongoing Telangana general strike has exposed that the Congress party lacks a strong leader in region who could emerge as a face of the party, source said. Leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Panchayat Raj minister K Jana Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP K Keshav Rao or former ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao do not match the profile of D Srinivas. Therefore, the Congress party selected him to represent the region.
However, it is not yet known whether D Srinivas would be inducted into the State Cabinet or would be assigned with some responsibility in the party, but it is for sure that the Congress High Command would use his skills in re-organising the party, especially in the Telangana region.
The presence of leaders including the Chief Minsiter and PCC president on the occasion of filing of nomination was a clear indication that Srinivas enjoys the strong backing of the Congress High Command.&nbsp;
After submitting his nomination before the Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram, D Srinivas thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for nominating him as a MLC candidate. He said he would try to give his best in whatever responsibility he is assigned with by the party. However, he avoided questions related to separate Telangana.&nbsp;

Four Telugu people were killed in a road mishap which took place near Detroit area in Southfield City in the United States of America in the wee hours of Sunday.
The victims have been identified as Satyendra Akula (30), native of Bhimavaram, Sumant Rajan (32) of Visakhapatnam, Venkatachalam Pasala (28) of Tadepalligudem and his father-in-law Rajendra Prasad Jonnala (50).
According to delayed reports, the mishap took place when they were returning from Detroit downtown and travelling on M-10 near I-696, a person who was driving on the wrong way came and hit their SUV causing both cars burst into flames at 4:15 AM on Sunday. All the four persons died on the spot when the car caught fire in the fatal crash.
The Southfield Police are investigating the case to get more details if drunken driving was responsible for the gruesome accident. Satyendra, Sumant and Venkatachalam were working as IT Consultants in Detroit.

Buchi Babu Sana loaded the film with mass elements for more than 75% of the film keeping in view , Ram Charan's stardom and fan following. He elevated Ram Charan's style and mannerisms on the screen. But this at times impacted the story and narration. However, in the second half, he showed his mettle during that last 25% with thought provoking dialogues, natural and realistic emotions and strong message to the society. Screenplay turned out tobe decent and Buchi Babu Sana tried to elevate it with the shock factor. A little finetuning of the script and doing away with unnecessary and illogical scenes, Peddi would have got more firepower. Sobhan did full justice to all the departments he handled.Pradeep Maddali highlighted how people of Godavari districts take rooster fights as a prestige issue and how few anti social elements take advantage of the gambling. He ensured that the narration doesnot turn into completely serious tone but told in a entertaining manner.The webseries has six episodes and the first episode starts with the introduction of lead actors and the missing of the rooster. The nnarration takes entertaining route with the investigation. All the investigation, scene recreation and others have been written in a funny manner.However, some scenes got repeated and this slowed the pace of the narration, diluting the tempo. Some scenes looked forced and some are not brought to the logical conclusion. One gets a feeling that there could have been few thrillinng scenes while revealing the antagonist. While the first two episodes are hilarious and is narrated at a fast pace, the third episode slows the proceedings.Fourth episode turns the story interesting before the &nbsp;runup to the climax.The music of Saket Komanduri is pleasant ad appealing. Though some clarity comes in the second half, it turns out to be routine with psychpath kind of elevations and monotonous scenes. The film lacked the natural feel and everything looks artificial in the end.Pavan Chenna's cinematography is ok. Harshavardhan Rameshwar's music also fall in the same zone. Song on mother is ok. He tried to make up for it with hilarious scene in the police station during the preclimax. The entire first half is dragged with the love scenes featuring the lead pairs. The interval twist sets the tone for the second half. The pace picks up in the second half but the so called twists can be easily predicted.The music for the film is tuned by Ilayaraja. The songs looked like serial songs and offered nothing new. and the background music turned out to be a huge disappointment. One cannot believe that Ilayaraja scored the music for the film. The cinematography of Arvind Kannabiran is good. He showed the scenes in a realistic manner adding aesthetic elements. The editing of Junaid Siddiqui could have been better as there are many repetitive scenes that slowed the pace of the narration. He came up with a simple story of how a family tries to protect themselves when on attack from dreaded gangsters. Many such films came earlier but Subhash K Raj narrated it in a different manner trying to send message to the society.He showed father training his daughter to be brave and not to tolerate any injustice not only to the family but others in the society despite mother expressing her own fears. He also highlighted the importance of martial arts and how it will be helpful as a self defence system.He started the narration in &nbsp;a gripping manner and then the narration and screenplay turns racy throughout the first half. The first half ends in a decent manner setting the stage for the second half. The second half also treads in a similar manner but pace dips at times and due to few repetitive and dragged scenes. The climax too turns out to be weak.Arun Radhakrishnan's cinematography is good. He used the camera angles and color combinations to perfection do give a natural and realistic feel. Ravi Basrur's background music is impactful and added value to the narration. The editing of Pradeep E Ragav is decent enough except for few drags here and there and repetitive scenes. Dialogues are thoughprovoking, inspirational and motivational. The entire first half is loaded with the fights between husband and wife and the happenings between the friends and court scenes. All those things are routine and few hilarious scenes are just ok though they are nothing new.The first half ends with the revelation of the secrets of the protagonists and the entire second half is all about them proving their innocence. The director failed to connect the emotional chords and failed to establish how a small incidents lead to divorce. Few emotions are ok but the super heroes fights looked silly and didnot workout. He tried to load the second half with intense emotions but failed to do full justice to them.He ended few roles abruptly and didnot justify few characters in the film. Climax twist is decent &nbsp;to some extent.Satish Muthyala's cinematography is good. Shrawan Bharadwaj's music is just ok and so is the background music. Editing of Koti left a lot to be desired. There are many unnecessary scenes that impacted the final output. But the routine shades and slow pace ended up testing the patience of the viewers. The entire second half is loaded with emotional content. The twist in the pre climax is good and the climax turns out to be emotional.There are many unnecessary scenes that defies logic and also the conflict is not shown in &nbsp;a convincing manner. The relationship and connection to four kids and the granny is not shown properly.Aravind Thirukovela with his cinematography turned the scenes colorful and visually appealing on the screen. Sooraj S Kurup's songs are just average. He however made up for it with his background music adding value to the narration. Ram Jagadeesh's dialogues are relevant, interesting and motivational. Editing of Raviteja Giriala left a lot to be desired. Though the film's duration is less, the editing made it feel like the film is never ending. He starts the narration in an interesting manner increasing the curiosity levels highlighting the fears of the protagonist in the wake of the recent developments which got him unwanted media attention.He also showed the emotional situation and trauma of the female cop who experiences shock of her son's death and how to deal ith them. He slowly corelates both the incidents and developments and showed the media trail and social media impact on the protagonist's family. He concentrated on the happenings in Varun's life and tried to surprise viewers.Though Jeethu Joseph tried to highlight the emotional complications and implications and also worked hard to maintain the thrill factor, viewers who watched the first two parts, feel everything is stretched and they could easily guess the next scenes and proceedings. They feel that Jeethu Joseph stretched the narration and the so called thrill factor to a point of no return. The slow pace in the first half tests the patience of the viewers. It is only during the runup to the interval block some sense of urgency is shown and few scenes increase the thrill factor.People expect a more interesting and intriguing second half. However the familiarity of the behavior of the characters robbed viewers of the novel feeling. Everything turns predictable be it the investigation sequences, emotional scenes and the pattern in unraveling the suspense. To the top of it, when viewers expect a shocking climax, the simple climax turns out to be a major disappointment. The way protagonist comes with silly ideas turns out to be a huge disappointment. The Telugu dubbing turned out to be the worst.The editing of Vinayak VS could have been far better. There are many scenes that slowed the pace of the narration. The cinematography of Satheesh Kurup is in sync with the story. Minister for Horticulture and Sericulture Ramreddy Venkat Reddy had a miraculous escape in a road accident on Khammam-Hyderabad highway after his vehicle avoided a head-on-collision with a speeding lorry in a fraction of seconds.
According to details, the Minister was returning to Hyderabad from Khammam district after participating in a programme on Monday morning. However, a speeding lorry coming from the opposite direction lost control near Narketpalli mandal in Nalgonda district. While the lorry was about to hit the minister's convoy, the minister's driver acted swiftly and avoided collision which otherwise could have led to a major accident.
After a brief halt, the Minister then continued his journey to Hyderabad.
