Minister for Labour Welfare Danam Nagender on Thursday appealed to Telangana Political Joint Action Committee to call off Rail Roko agitation proposed to be held from October 15 to 17 in view of Group II examinations.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the State Secretariat, Danam said that nearly 2.5 lakh aspirants of Group-II services from Telangana region would face lot of inconvenience due to Rail Roko agitation.  He appealed to T-JAC to call off the Rail Roko agitation considering the students' career.

Danam requested the JAC to at least postpone the Rail Roko agitation to dates other than October 15 and 16 when the APPSC would be conducting the examination. "If the T-JAC can postpone the agitation twice to facilitate the Maha Dharna of employees and by-elections in Banswada Assembly constituency, then why it cannot do the same for Group-II in view of students' future?" he asked.

The Minister claimed that the government was serious considering the demands made by the striking employees'. He said that the Chief Minister has directed Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi to call the employees for talks once again to break the impasse.
