Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader T Harish Rao on Tuesday appealed to contract employees in various government departments not to cow down to Essential Services Maintenance Act or fear disciplinary action for participating in general strike of employees.

Talking to media persons, Harish Rao assured the employees that the Trs would look into their case and take all measures to protect their jobs. Stating that the State Road Transport Corporation employees strike was not for two days as reportedly told by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said that the employees would continue the strike until the Centre announces creation of Telangana state and introduces a Bill in the Parliament.

Condemning Congress spokesman Renuka Choudhary's statement that the general strike of employees was not a success in Telangana region and 80 percent of employees were attending duties, he challenged Renuka Choudhary to make such "foolish" statements in Hyderabad.

When all the employees of Telangana are participating in the general strike demanding separate statehood, Renuka Choudhary's statement would invite wrath from people of the region as it has hurt their sentiments, he said. He advised her to stop making such provocative statements that could disturb law and order situation.

Meanwhile, the Trs Mahila wing members staged a protest in front of Renuka Chowdary's statement on Tuesday in protest against her statements. The Trs activists were later arrested by the police.
