Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana on Tuesday took out Padayatra from Charminar to the Clock Tower in Secunderabad along with his party workers and Telangana activists expressing solidarity with the 'Sakala Janula Samme' or people's general strike.

Talking to media persons, K Narayana demanded that both the Centre and state governments respect the sentiments of Telangana people and make concrete efforts for the formation of Telangana state. He said that the Centre should honour its promise made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and announce decision on Telangana state formation.

The Cpi leader also condemned the police highhandedness on students of Osmania University and Nizam College on Monday. He said the government could not water down the agitation using coercive methods.

Cpi MP Aziz Pasha and other activists took part in the Padyatra of over 10 kilometres.
