Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Convener Prof M Kodandaram on Friday demanded that the Centre take a clear decision on the formation of separate Telangana state by August 1.

Talking to media persons after submitting all people’s strike notice to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his Camp Office along with employees union leaders, Prof Kodandaram said that the Telangana leaders appealed to Chief Minister to mount pressure on the Centre over carving out of separate state from Andhra Pradesh.

He said that the Centre has to honour the promise made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Dec 9, 2009 on Telangana.

Warning the government of serious consequences in event of unfavourable decision, he set a deadline of August 1 for Centre.

He said the government would be held responsible for serious consequences if it failed to honour the decision on Telangana.

Kodandaram said that all party leaders, employees, students and all sections of people from the region will intensify their agitation for statehood from August 1 and paralyse the administration in the region if the Centre failed to take any decision on the issue.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the decision on Telangana would have to be taken by Centre and it was not in his hands.

Kiran kumar Reddy said that he would take the notice of Centre over the all people’s strike on August 1.

Kodandaram appealed to the Chief Minister to inform the situation in Telangana to Centre clearly.

Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association president Swamy Goud and Telangana Gazetted Officers president V Srinivas Goud accompanied Prof Kodandaram.
