The second day of the Ysr Congress Party’s maiden plenary began on a chaotic note as delegates from Telangana and Seemandhra regions tried to outshout each other, to pressurise party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy to make his stand clear on the separate statehood demand.

Holding placards in support of their respective demands, the party delegates from both Telangana and Seemandhra regions shouted slogans, demanding that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy support their stand. The party leaders faced a torrid time in trying to bring the situation under control as the slogan shouting built up in intensity.

Party leader Konda Surekha, MLA from Parkal in Warangal, hinted that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was behind the delay in formation of the separate state, even while it was misleading the people of the region on the issue.

“One particular party had targeted Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy during his lifetime on the separate statehood issue. Now that he is no more, what is preventing the creation of Telangana?” Ms Surekha questioned. She also said that she was keenly awaiting a statement by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy on the issue, like all other separate Telangana protagonists.
