Baba continues to be 'very critical' as more forces sent to Puttaparthi

Even as an anxious devotee attempted to barge inside the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences on Friday, demanding that the authorities release visuals of Satya Sai Baba under treatment, SSSIHMS Director A N Safaya stated that the spiritual leader’s health condition continues to be in a very critical state of health.

In a medical bulletin released on Friday evening, Dr Safaya stated “there is no sign of change in his health condition and he continues to be in the same critical state of health. He is still supported by ventilator and is on CRRT system of dialysis. His blood pressure and heart rate have been stable for the last 12 hours and are supported by necessary drugs.”

Dr Safaya’s evening bulletin came hours after one Chikkaballapur Shiva Sai Baba from Karnataka managed to dodge the security at the SSSIHMS gates and make inside the premises. He was however stopped from venturing much further than the gates.

The police arrested him and he was shifted to an undisclosed location.

The incident however was of little consequence to attract the attention of the numerous devotees of the seer who had been waiting in hope for some good news since March 28.

The evening bulletin released by Dr Safaya said the panel of doctors treating him are keeping a close watch on the godman’s health.

The SSSIHMS Director said the response shown to the treatment continues to be minimal by all the vital organs. His heart rate and blood pressure continue to be low and they are supported by drugs.

“There is no significant change in the overall clinical condition since yesterday,” Dr Safaya said and added the doctors are continuing their vigorous and round-the-clock treatment.

Meanwhile, the state government has sent another 1,000 security personnel to maintain law and order in the situation in Puttaparthi and to meet any eventuality.

The government also set up check-posts and barricades at the entry points.

Earlier, Anantapur Joint Collector directed all 26 tahsildars of the district to proceed to Puttaparthy and take steps for making arrangements for the VIPs.

The government has also sent three huge generators to Puttaparthy to meet the power situation in the ashram.

Huge screens for closed circuit television broadcast have also been set up.

Meanwhile, Director of Medical Education and Health Ravi Raju convened a meeting with two doctors attending on the godman at the SSSIHMS. Dr Ravi Raju is believed to have inquired about the Satya Sai Baba’s health from the panel doctors.

He later told media persons that he could not make any announcements on Satya Sai Baba’s health condition. “We can only make some announcement if all the organs stop responding to treatment completely,” he said.
