Governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday called upon police officials to take a pledge for the eradication of corruption from the society.

Addressing the passing out of parade of eighth batch of probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police at Andhra Pradesh Police Academy at Himayathsagar, the Governor stated that police should work with honestly and fight against the corruption which is spreading its tentacles.

Stating the corruption has brought disrepute to the entire department, he called upon the Deputy Superintendents of Police to take a pledge for eradicating corruption from the society.

With the government taking all measures for welfare of police working in the state, the Governor asked the officials not to resort to desist from the lure of extra income and work honestly and sincerely for protecting the law and the people.

Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy asked the police to act as per the law without bowing to pressure brought about by elected representatives.

She also told the DSPs to behave well with women, who come to lodge complaints seeking justice and protection.

Fifty-seven DSPs, including 23 women, participated in the passing out parade.

Mr Narasimhan’s wife Vimala Narasimhan, Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao and Andhra Pradesh Police Academy Director Sambhasiva Rao were also present.
