Even before the official results of the elections for members of the Legislative Council from the Local Authorities Constituencies are yet to be declared, calls for heads of ‘dissidents’ in the Congress to be rolled have begun to emerge and attempts to shift the blame on each other seen.
The first sound of discomfort at the LAC polls results emerged from Minister for Labour and Employment Danam Nagender who on Wednesday appealed to the Congress High Command and Pradesh Congress Committee to initiate serious disciplinary action against those who voted against ruling party’s candidates.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Nagender demanded that the PCC and High Command conduct a probe into cross-voting and identify those persons, who are responsible the for losing of official candidates in the election results.
He appealed to Congress in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad to take serious disciplinary action on those violators who did not followed the Whip issued by the party.
Reacting on the former minister and senior Congress Tadipatri MLA JC Diwakar Reddy openly stating that his group members did not vote against official candidate in the elections, the Minister stated “I am not seeking action against particular individuals I want action against those who are behind the cross-voting.”
According to reports, in the MLC elections from Anantapur district TDP candidate Mettu Govinda Reddy won by a margin of 53 majority votes against the official candidate.
