Mock House leaves Congress MLAs exposed

The Congress Legislators who were boycotting the Assembly sessions for the last so many days under the pretext of ‘fighting’ for separate Telangana were caught unawares by the Telangana Journalists Forum which organised a ‘Mock Session’, leaving their stand exposed.

The N Kiran Kumar Reddy government too received a jolt with non-Congress party leaders participating in the ‘Mock Assembly’ parallel to the regular state Assembly. More so, since reports that the Congress MLAs who were already staying away from the House were planning to join the said Mock House were doing rounds.

Almost 30 Legislators attended the ‘House’ and conducted proceedings criticising the state and central governments for the inordinate delay in tabling a Bill on separate Telangana in the Parliament.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was upset particularly when news spread that the Congress Legislators, who were also boycotting the Budget Session, were on the move to attend the Mock House.

The jittery Chief Minister is understood to have convened an urgent meeting with them in the CLP office on top priority and successfully thwarted the Telangana flock attempt to

proceed towards the ‘private hall’.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy successfully impressed upon them that the issue was not in his hands

and that it was unfair to boycott the Assembly and push the government into a predicament.

Assisted by Congress party president D Srinivas, the Chief Minister urged them to attend the regular Session.

Organized at a private hall here by the Telangana Journalists Forum, with around 30 Legislators from TRS, TDP and BJP, the Mock Assembly idea was to highlight the Telangana problem, intensify their struggle and motivate all concerned to address the issue at the earliest.

The cited party Legislators had been boycotting the Budget Session of the Assembly since the last few days.

Hareswar Reddy was unanimously elected as Mock Assembly Speaker by the Telangana Legislators and conducted the proceedings.

They demanded a resolution for introducing a Bill in the Parliament for bifurcating

Andhra Pradesh state and to carve out a separate Telangana.

They also passed a condolence resolution in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana.

The Congress Legislators, who were dissuaded from attending the ‘meeting’, were severely criticized for keeping away from the said meeting which was designed to attract the attention of the state and central governments.

The Congress Legislators faced the ire of the mock House for lacking the real ‘commitment’ to the issue.
