Shankar Rao loses his cool

Minister for Textiles and Handlooms P Shankar Rao on Thursday lost his cool when a reporter intercepted his opening remarks on the resignation submitted by Minister for Endowments Jupalli Krishna Rao.

As the Minister started commenting on the cited resignation, he was asked to give details on any other topic. This had the effect of Dr Shankar Rao’s temper being raised.

The Minister used unparliamentary language which does not deserve to go to the print.

As the media persons looked on in shock, instead of being apologetic, the Minister added that scribes were supposed to write whatever was dictated to them.

He however managed to recover from his ‘hot’ temperament soon.

Dr Shankar Rao later protested against Eluru MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao’s statement, clarifying that Congress president Sonia Gandhi never said ‘no’ to the creation of a separate Telangana state.

Dr Shankar Rao further told media persons at the Secretariat that Mr Krishna Rao’s quitting was not a step in the right direction.

“Mr Krishna Rao ought to have met All India Congress president Sonia Gandhi and not Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, as the former was the authority to decide on Telangana, Dr Shankar Rao concluded.
