Jagan should name party as YSJ Party: Shankar Rao

Weavers and Handlooms Minister P Shankar Rao on Tuesday challenged Kadapa rebel leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy to name his proposed party as YSJ Party instead of the YSR Congress Party as proposed.

Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Minister made light of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s claim to YSR’s political legacy and asked him to start a party in his own name.

He said that YSR and Congress were inseparable and that the former chief minister and Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s father was always loyal to the Congress, to the extent that it ran in his blood.

When asked about the proposal he made earlier that the Ministers loyal to YSR should be asked to go, Dr Shankar Rao replied in negative stating that it was a past remark and he was not serious about it.

Replying to another poser, the Minister said that he would go to Kadapa to participate in the election campaign if the need arose.

Referring to the individual loans to weavers, he informed that funds would be released to clear off all their commitments and there will be no diversion of their funds as the next budget will enlarge scope for better allotment.

He would see that a better budget would be presented covering his portfolio.

"It will be ten times better than what Telugu Desam Party regime had envisaged," Dr Shankar Rao said.

He also took a dig at TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, asking him to make constructive suggestions for bettering the lives of weavers.

Welcoming actor-politician K Chiranjeevi into the party fold, the Minister expressed

confidence that his entry would strengthen the Congress.
