Taking a serious note of the frontal attack on the party leadership by the media house owned by Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress High Command on Sunday ordered a report on the issue from the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee.

Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told media persons that any decision by the High Command over the issue will be taken only after going through the report.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say that the APCC had already sent a transcript of the news story broadcast on Sakshi TV and also translated copies of the ‘anti-party’ stories published in the newspaper.

The media house had broadcast the ‘adverse’ one-hour programme on Friday and then repeated it on Saturday. The programme had targeted AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, accusing them of having failed to live up to the people’s expectations and the ‘sorry state of affairs’ in the Congress party.

The channel had blamed the ‘coterie’ around the Congress president for its waning popularity.

Sources in the Congress say that the High Command would not act in haste since Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had not spoken out against it himself, even though it was seen as ‘highly unlikely’ that the media house he owns could have carried the stories on its own.
