Four Osmania University Students on Saturday locked themselves inside the staff room of the Arts College, in protest against the announcement by Ministers from Telangana region to participate in the AP Formation Day Celebrations.

The four students, Naveen Yadav, Balraj Yadav, Koti and Vikram had earlier in the day resorted to a strike in front of the Arts College but when the rain intensified, they went inside the building.

The four students were demanding that the government cancel the AP Formation Day celebrations on November 1, and the Minister and all elected people’s representatives from Telangana region should keep away from the celebrations.

The protesting students warned the elected representatives that they would be treated as betrayers of the Telangana movement if they went ahead with their plans to participate in the celebrations.

The students also warned the government that the decision to go ahead with organizing the celebrations would lead to turmoil and hardships.

Telangana ideologue Professor Kodandaram and Professor Raj Mahender Reddy reach the spot and tried in vain to convince the protesting students to come out of the room and end their strike.

Meanwhile, other students lent their support to the protesting students.

Earlier on Friday, Prof Kodandaram had changed his rigid stand on demanding the official cancellation of Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations in Telangana region.

Prof Kodandaram had said that the TRS activists would not obstruct the State Formation Day celebration on November 1. However, the TRS activists and students would not obstruct the celebrations but stage protests against these, he had said. Prof Kodandaram had claimed that the TRS took this decision to respect the sentiments and emotions of Seemandhra people.
