Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday directed the AP GENCO to work on a concrete action plan to see that Andhra Pradesh becomes self-sufficient in Energy by 2014 and complete different power projects with clear milestones.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting on AP Genco Projects and issues with officials at Secretariat. The APGENCO officials assured the Chief Minister that 2,800 MW power will be added by 2012-13 through commissioning of various projects in the State.

 The officials informed the Chief Minister that the Ministry of Environment and Forests accorded Environmental clearance for the Rayalaseema Coal Based Thermal Power Project (1x600 MW) in Yerraguntla Mandal of Kadapa District.

In a letter to APGENCO, the Ministry of Environment, Government of India informed about the clearance of the Project. Officials appraised the Chief Minister that the APGENCO generation from April 1, 2010 to October 24, 2010 is 19633 MU as against 17679 MU generated during the corresponding period last year marking an increase of 11.1per cent.

The Hydel generation by APGENCO from April 1, 2010 to October 24, 2010 is 4711 MU as against 3312 MU generated during the same period last year marking an increase of 42.2per cent. Thermal generation from April 1, 2010 to October 24, 2010 is 14922 MU as against 14366 MU generated during the same period last year ie 3.9 per cent increase in generation.

The Chief Minister appreciated APGENCO for achieving the highest monthly generation of 3734 MU during September, 2010. APGENCO Hydro Power Stations achieved the highest monthly generation 1854 MU during September, 2010.

Mr Rosaiah also hailed the GENCO officials for completing the Annual Overhaul of 14 out of 23 Thermal Units. Officials also informed that the Generator for Dr NTTPS Unit-6, spared by KPCL, reached the site on October 25, 2010.

Officials explained that Dr NTTPS Unit-7 (500 MW) at Vijayawada is now stabilized and the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of Kakatiya Thermal Power Station (TPS) Unit-1 (500 MW) at Bhoopalapally is declared on September 14, 2010; the COD of Priyadarshini Jurala HEP Unit-4 (39 MW) is declared on September 08, 2010 and the COD of Pochampad Hydro Electric Scheme Unit-4 (9 MW) is declared on October 12, 2010.

The Chief Minister was informed that the Brahmamsagar pumping scheme and Kinnerasani pumping scheme are operationalised. Rosaiah was informed that Tenders are issued for Karimnagar gas project with November 18, 2010 as the last date and the GAIL has made detailed presentation on the pipeline project from Shamirpet/Bhongir to Nedunur.

Letter of Intent (LOI) is issued on October 14, 2010 to BHEL for BTG package of RTPP Stage-IV for Rs 1445 Crore.; Environmental Appraisal Committee of Ministry of Environment and Forests approved Terms of Reference (TOR) for Vadarevu (Kanuparthy) TPP Stage-I (1600 MW); LOI is also issued to Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) for preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Railway line from Bisugir Shariff to Bhoopalapally.

 The Chief Minister was informed that the Thermal power projects under construction and getting ready to be commissioned are Rayalaseema Unit 5 (210 MW), Kothagudem Stage VI, (500 MW) by the end of Feb.2011, Kakatiya State-II (600 MW) by the end of 2012. Among Hydro Projects under construction and getting ready to be commissioned are Priyadarshini Jurala Unit 5 and Unit 6 (39 MW each) to be ready by the end of March, 2011 and Nagarjunasagar Tailpond (2x25 MW) and Pulichintala (4x30 MW) by September 2012 and Lower Jurala (6x40 MW) by 2014.

The Projects under Development/Investigation are Rayalaseema TPP Unit 6 (600 MW); Gas-based project near Karimangar (2100 MW); IGCC Plant at Dr NTTPS, Vijayawada (182 MW); Sattupally TPP (600 MW); Mega Power Project at Vadarevu (4000 MW); Srikakulam TPP (2400 MW) and Polavaram HEP (960 MW) etc.

 Principal Secretary of Energy Suthirtha Bhattacharya, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister CVSK Sharma, Managing Director of APGENCO K Vijayanand, JMD APGENCO D Prabhakar Rao, Directors of APGENCO Adiseshu, UG Krishnamurthy, C Radhakrishna, Anjaneya Rao and T Prabhakar Rao and Finance Secretary T Satyanarayana attended the meeting.
