T Martyrs meet deferred, not cancelled: Amos

Senior Telangana Congress leader and MLC K R Amos on Monday denied that the planned Telangana Martyrs meeting scheduled to be held at Nalgonda on October 31 was cancelled but clarified that it was deferred due to the death anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, observed as  Anti-Terrorism Day.

Talking to media persons at the CLP media point, Mr Amos vowed that the Telangana leaders would not bow down to cheap tricks of Seemandhra leaders and continue the martyrs meeting in Telangana districts.

Loyalists of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had disrupted the Martyrs meeting at Mahabubnagar last Friday, protesting the absence of the late chief minister’s portrait on the flexi-board banners. The Telangana Congress leaders have been trying to pin the blame for the disruption on Seemandhra leaders.

Mr Amos stated that, though YSR had worked for benefit of Telangana people by launching various schemes, there was no need to place his portrait in the Telangana Martyrs memorial programme, since he had obstructed moves for a separate Telangana state.

No one can obstruct formation of Telangana, the MLC stated, and hoped a separate Telangana state would become a reality soon.

He urged Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and District Superintendent of Police to arrest those who disrupted the Martyrs meet in Mahabubnagar.
