DSC-2008: govt urges candidates to end stir for solution

The government has asked the agitating DSC-2008 candidates to call off their stir first to come to an amicable solution. The DSC-2008 aspirants had earlier in the day tried to picket the Secretariat.

Briefing media persons at the state Secretariat on Thursday, Minister for Secondary Education Manikya Varaprasad Rao reiterated that the government would not succumb to the pressure tactics from any section and favoured for ending the agitation.

He said that he had already informed the Chief Minister about the ongoing issue and that he would take a final decision in the appointments of teachers.

The state Cabinet will also discuss the issue and then arrive at a position.

Stating that justice would be done to those who came under the Dsc 2008 purview, the Minister assured that candidates selected will be given jobs.

The YSR regime earlier had favoured Be D candidates for the jobs but the De D candidates went to the court in protest. The Be D candidates also moved the Supreme Court on the issue. He pointed out that since both the parties have gone to the court, the issue is subjudice.

The legal opinion however favoured that 30 percent weightage for De D and 70 percent weightage for open category. This had delayed the settlement, the Minister said.
