The lifting of police cases filed against the students from Telangana region at the height of the separate statehood agitation in 2009 and 2010 has been one of the major demands of all Telangana protagonists.

The MPs reminded the Prime Minister that repeated assurances have been given by the government that these cases would be lifted, but nothing has been done so far.

Mr Manmohan Singh assured the MPs that he would talk to Chief Minister K Rosaiah on the issue.
