The ugly face of goondaism in the name of regionalism once again reared its head in the Osmania University campus on Saturday when students manhandled academicians present in the campus for B Ed spot valuation.

The Osmania Students Joint Action Committee had warned evaluators from non-Telangana regions to leave the campus before the spot valuation for B Ed began. The TSJAC activists had given the evaluators two hours to leave the campus.

Taking the warning seriously, some of the lecturers left the campus while others lingered on.

After the two hour deadline expired, the TSJAC leaders marched up to the evaluators and picked an argument. The student leaders questioned the evaluators why they had not heeded the deadline. The argument reached a flashpoint soon enough and the TSJAC activists manhandled the evaluators.

The Osmania University police soon rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The evaluators said that they had come for the spot evaluations since the task was allotted to them. They said that it was unfair for them to be targeted over regional bias.

Meanwhile, student leaders demanded that the spot valuations be conducted only by evaluators from Telangana region.

Talking to INN, TSJAC leader Srihari denied that the non-Telangana evaluators were manhandled. He maintained that the evaluations should be carried out by only evaluators from the Telangana region.
