Rejecting rumours which have been floating around political and media circles since the past few days, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhana Reddy on Thursday said that the stories that TDP leaders are quitting the party over Telangana issue are ‘baseless.’

Mr Janardhana Reddy told media persons at the TD Legislature Party Office that a separate Telangana state can be materialized by staying in the TDP.

He said the TDP would set up Telangana Forum to fight for the cause of Telangana. The senior leader urged the government to reserve 40 percent of posts in Group-I services for Telangana students. Otherwise, the recruitments can be halted till the bifurcation issue is solved, he stated.

Mr Janardhana Reddy urged all-party leaders to work unitedly for the cause of Telangana statehood.

He criticized the Agriculture Minister Raghuveera Reddy for his failure in supplying urea to farmers. The former minister demanded that Mr Raghuveera Reddy should be hanged for creating scarcity of fertilizers through his negligence.

Meanwhile, senior leader Kadiyam Srihari stated that the TDP would not encourage defections for the cause of Telangana and work unitedly for the cause of statehood.

Mr Srihari urged the government to declare September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day in the state. “Why the government is not permitting to celebrate the festival when it was celebrated in parts of Hyderabad-Karnataka and Maratwada regions officially,” he questioned.
