Nagarjuna and Karthi’s Telugu, Tamil bilingual film is in last leg of shooting. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film is an official remake of Hollywood flick ‘The Intouchables’ (2011) which dealt with the relationship of a quadriplegic patient and his caretaker. While Nagarjuna is playing quadriplegic patient, Karthi will be seen as his caretaker. The film also marks Karthi’s first straight film in Telugu. Latest buzz is that, the film’s title has been finalized as Oopiri. However, we need to wait for official confirmation from the makers.
The title Oopiri sounds soft and classy. Earlier, the title Dosth was considered for the movie. Nagarjuna and Karthi’s chemistry is said to be major highlight in the film. Shruti Haasan was initially signed in on to play the female lead, and was replaced with Tamanna after Haasan walked out of the film citing scheduling conflicts. Gopi Sunder is providing music while Param Vara Potluri is producing it under PVP Cinema Banner. Oopiri is likely to release later this year.
