Sekhar Kammula Strong Take on Violence in Movies

Sekhar Kammula has spoken about the growing use of violence in commercial films. In a very recent interview, the director said filmmakers should not assume that bloodshed guarantees box office success, as audiences continue to look for stories that create a strong emotional connection with viewers.
He explained that a film becoming a hit does not mean its style will become a lasting industry trend. According to Sekhar Kammula, trends keep changing, but viewers know what they want. Any film, whether action packed or quiet, can find an audience when its story and emotions feel honest and relatable.
The director added that good art and sincere filmmaking can stand the test of time. His comments reflect the approach seen in films such as Anand, Godavari and Fidaa, where relationships and everyday emotions take centre stage.
Sekhar Kammula last was Dhanush and Nagarjuna starrer Kuberaa which was released in 2025. When asked about his latest project, he said that work is going on and he will anounce about it in a couple of months.
