Shiva Nirvana On Missing Police Track In Irumudi

Irumudi, starring Ravi Teja, has reportedly emerged as one of the year’s major theatrical successes, crossing the ₹250 crore mark and now it is streaming now on Netflix. Writer director Shiva Nirvana has been discussing the film’s emotional family drama, crime elements and several creative decisions following its successful theatrical run and rending on Netflix.

One question surrounding Irumudi after its Netflix release has been the absence of police and investigation sequences despite the serious crimes portrayed. Shiva Nirvana explained that this was intentional. According to him, introducing police characters would have changed the film’s focus and transformed the narrative into a conventional investigation driven crime drama.

Nirvana pointed to Sai Kumar’s character refusing to file an eve teasing complaint because he fears the incident becoming public. The sequence establishes that the characters are aware of the police. He further revealed that the MLA is responsible for the deaths, while deliberately leaving unanswered whether police were compromised or killings were portrayed as suicides.

Shiva Nirvana began his directorial journey with Ninnu Kori and followed it with Majili, before Tuck Jagadish and Kushi faced a comparatively difficult response. Irumudi has marked a significant comeback for the filmmaker, who says its success has given him greater freedom to experiment and surprise audiences. Despite speculation surrounding a possible sequel, Shiva Nirvana has clarified that Irumudi 2 is not currently planned.
