Epic Box Office Anand Deverakonda Film Faces Major Setback

Epic, featuring Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, has suffered a disappointing opening week at the box office. The film entered theatres with considerable expectations, thanks to its connection with 90’s – A Middle Class Biopic, the popular Telugu web series, and the successful Baby combination of its lead actors.
The anticipation was further boosted by producer Naga Vamsi’s involvement and the positive response to Epic’s songs before release. However, the trailer significantly affected the pre release momentum, with its reception reportedly failing to generate the expected excitement. Despite the makers proceeding with confidence and holding paid premieres, audience response weakened soon after release.
According to the reported figures, Epic collected approximately ₹7.5 crore during its first week, while the overseas market contributed around $250K. The film’s worldwide gross is estimated to be close to ₹10 crore, against a reported ₹20 crore breakeven target. This indicates recovery of roughly 50 percent, with low occupancies affecting theatrical returns.
Epic is now facing a challenging theatrical run, with the second weekend expected to contribute only limited revenue. Based on the reported performance, distributors could reportedly lose around half of their investment. The film’s weak theatrical reception marks a major setback for the Anand Deverakonda - Vaishnavi Chaitanya combination.
