Soori Transformation Into Tamil Cinema’s Mass Hero Is No Mean Feat

Soori has completed a remarkable transition from popular comedian to bankable leading man in Tamil cinema. His latest release Mandaadi, which arrived in theatres on September 10, 2026, is reportedly enjoying a strong response, further strengthening his position as one of the industry’s emerging mass-oriented protagonists.
Soori spent years entertaining audiences in supporting comic roles before reinventing himself as a serious performer. His breakthrough arrived with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu in 2009, while the popular “Parotta Soori” identity made him a familiar face. After years of comedy, his career entered a new phase with Vetrimaaran Directorial Viduthalai Part 1.
Viduthalai Part 1 became the defining turning point in Soori’s career. His portrayal of police constable Kumaresan showcased an emotional and dramatic side previously unseen in his comic roles. He subsequently strengthened his credentials through films including Garudan, Kottukkaali and Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, earning critical recognition.
With Mandaadi adding commercial momentum, Soori’s evolution into a dependable lead actor appears increasingly convincing. Industry reports have placed his current remuneration around ₹25 crore, although such figures are not officially confirmed. His growing theatrical appeal is also reportedly attracting larger scale projects and prominent production houses.
