Huge twist in TN CM Vijay divorce case
In a surprising twist and turn of events, Sangeetha Sornalingam, wife of TN CM Vijay who filed a divorce case few months back now withdrew her case. She however retained her right to plea the fresh petition.
Sangeetha, who appeared before the court through video conference, informed Judge Sujatha that she was withdrawing the petition. The judge questioned her for around 15 minutes before accepting the withdrawal and closing the divorce proceedings. Sangeetha earlier had filed the divorce case in the Chengalpattu family court.
Speculation about difficulties in the couple's marriage first intensified in 2023 after Sangeetha was absent from several important public events involving Vijay. Although those reports were denied at the time, questions resurfaced in 2025 when she did not attend major political events organised by the TVK including the party's second state conference.
In her petition,Sangeetha earlier alleged that she discovered in 2021, that Vijay was allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress, PTI and several others had reported. She alleged that despite assurances that the relationship would end, it continued, leading to emotional distress and a gradual breakdown of their marriage.
