Director Sundar C has finally spoken about why he left Thalaivar 173 with Rajinikanth. Many fans were waiting for this combo after Arunachalam. But Sundar C says he stepped away because of creative pressure, not because of any fight. He said big star films need a different style of working. For 16 years he has made films based on his own gut feeling. Thalaivar 173 was huge, and he felt he could not fully handle that kind of setup. He did not want to do a film if he could not give his 100 percent.
The director also said he finds it hard to push his ideas strongly in a big production. He is not the kind of person who argues or fights to keep his vision. He often adjusts and moves on. Sundar C felt that habit might hurt the film. So he decided to quit early before the shoot started. He did not want fans or the team to be upset later with a weak product. The main idea of the film was a family entertainer with a 90s feel, like old Rajini films. He still loves the concept and wants to make it one day with another hero.
Sundar C made it clear that there is no problem with Rajinikanth. He called the superstar and told him before going public. Rajini’s reply was very warm.
